Literature Text

My dad is a space cadet
Born in the 1960's
A trek-ie
A dreamer

An engineer... in his own mind

An aircraft mechanic
A degree he never got to use

So many times the stifled
Dream came back burning hotter
In his mind and heart

Lived across the street from NASA in
Houston for 7 years

Of his adult life

Now even at age 50
He dreams

Beyond the atmosphere
Beyond past tragedies
Beyond foolish government
Beyond all years
And beyond all reason

He still dreams

Of a world once seen on a small tv screen

To some day build his children's reality

I pray that I will forever belive in my dreams as he does

Perhaps in the end that will be my father's legacy

The never quit...forever dreaming
...consistently sceaming..
Planing.. dareing...defiant
...m a d m a n.... I call
Dad

Perhaps this is my real inheritance

The guts to tell the world to kiss it
I'm going to live my dream
And build a better world

It will probably never look
Like that old tv screen

But if we refuse to accept our Reality
We can change it!

The work won't end in my lifetime
Or even in my grandchildren's lifetime

Because something will always be broken

And maybe just maybe "Kirk" really will lead the way.

For the journey of exploration...
...is as much inward
As it is outward

When your in a world of hurt.. is when you find out what your made of...

These thoughts are not new
...people wiser than I will ever be have said them for years...

Maybe just maybe... This Time

...more than Just me... Will Hear
This work is entirely mine except for the SarTrek references
If Thomas Edison never dreamed up a working light bulb we'd be living in a different world.

This is inspirational... and sweet and nice.
I like your choice of words. They're simple and genuine.
And the story about your Dad makes it all the more interesting.
Good work!
